***Corona Contigency Documents***

*** UPDATE 4/13/2020 ***

Greetings,

In keeping with my instructional style and the overall feel of our classes, I have decided to initially deliver information related to the "Corona Contingency" in the most lo-tech way possible.  A forced introduction to new and unfamiliar apps at this point would be counterproductive.

So, I have simply created two folders on the "Files and Documents" page: one for English 10 and one for English 12.  In each folder, you will find an "Instructional Calendar" detailing the BDHS Learning Targets that I have assessed this year, the Readings used to frame these assessments, and the Writings demonstrating your mastery of the Learning Targets. In each grade level folder, you will also find 3 sub-folders, one for each skill that we focused on this year:  "Annotation" (1st Quarter); "Discuss a Passage" (2nd Quarter); and "Write Formal Essays" (3rd Quarter).

I have begun to add Enrichment and Review activities to these folders.  We will proceed from our latest Readings (i.e. Julius Caesar for English 10 and Macbeth for English 12) and work backwards.  These activities will come in a lot of flavors and will gradually move away from the lo-tech style of the roll out.  For example, we will begin by watching YouTube lectures on the plays we have been reading and submitting "Annotation" work via email.  Later, we will try our hand at other digital platforms and products. Please note that these activities are ungraded and that there will be no "new" instruction at this time.

You will have one set of new activities each week.  These activities are designed to take 2 hours.  In fact, BDHS has set aside a two-hour block of "Instructional Hours" each week for you to work on English.  Our "Instructional Hours" are Monday mornings from 8 am - 10 am. The activities to be completed during this time will be posted by 5 pm on Sunday night.  For the first activities, I will be available by email during this time.  Starting next week, we will meet via Clever/Zoom.  The activities must be completed by Friday at 11:59 pm.

I also hare "Office Hours" every Friday from 12 pm - 2 pm.  Again, this week I will be available via email.  Starting next week, I will be available via video conference.

Periodically, check your email and here for updates.  I will not be inundating you with to-do lists.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at moorejm@pwcs.edu .

Be careful out there,

Mr. Moore
