PWCS Summer Reading 2019

The purpose of the Prince William County Public Schools Summer Reading Program is to encourage students to enjoy quality literature and to continue developing their independent reading skills. Student participation in the program is voluntary. Students who choose to participate in the program are required to complete a minimum number of two books.

Students participating in the program shall complete the attached documentation. The name of the author, the title of the book, publishing information, an explanation of the general topic or plot of the book, and a signature by the parent or guardian, indicating that the student has completed the reading of the two books is required. The documentation shall be submitted to their teacher by the end of the first week of school. Students who complete two books will receive two percentage points added to their final 9 weeks' grade in the affected marking period. Completion of the summer reading will be recorded for students by the end of the second week of school.

PW County Public Library Summer Reading 2019

Students also have the option to participate in the PWC Public Library System's Summer Reading Program.
This theme is "A Universe of Stories" and registration opens June 11.  There are weekly awards and chances to win for grand prize drawings.

Students still earn bonus, as per the PWCS program, but they will submit their documentation from the PWC Public Library System instead.  Again, students must read at least two books and the public library documentation must be submitted by the student to his or her language arts teacher by the second week of school.
