Camp Alleghany for Girls

As an all-girls Camp, we’re looking for female staff who are either 18+ or have graduated from high school to serve as counselors. We also have spots on our Green Team for guys who would thrive during a summer in the mountains doing manual labor on the river and on our grounds and facilities.  At ‘Ghany, we’re committed to a safe environment for our staff and campers. We’ve already put plans in place to keep everyone healthy while still operating vibrant, life changing, summer camp programs.  Beyond the deep healing of nature and community, working at Camp is also one of the best ways to gain practical skills that employers need — and seek — in applicants. Many 21st century skills are already difficult to teach in classrooms, but those same skills develop naturally at Camp. Counselors learn by doing, both with their campers and in leadership opportunities. We also offer ongoing professional development through weekly in-services for staff. These have included resume and budgeting workshops, an alumna and high level accountant speaking about women working in male dominated industries, and so much more.

ELP Leadership Program at Edu-Futuro

At Edu-Futuro, we empower youth and families through mentorship, education, leadership development, and parent engagement. Our intergenerational model prepares upper elementary, middle, and high school youth for college and career success before they graduate and furthermore, while students are attending college and are ready to join the workforce. All of this is achieved through our Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) Pipeline. Last year alone, our leaders in ELP II were able to take home 5.5 million dollars in scholarships. We want to make this happen for the students at Brentsville District High School.

Heavy Construction Contractors Association

Workforce Development has been a key initiative for HCCA as our companies continually seek unskilled(entry-level) and skilled workers to build VDOT and privately-funded projects.   If an individual is willing to get their hands dirty, now is a great time to step into a rewarding career path in heavy construction. HCCA member firms are hiring entry-level and skilled positions. I am collecting job listings from our companies and compiling them on our website to be used as a resource for job seekers to see the multitude of companies hiring now. HCCA teamed up with several trade associations to work with Governor Northam’s office on declaring Construction an essential service during the pandemic. Our companies’ crews have increased their safety measures and altered their work practices to accommodate CDC recommendations on preventing the spread of COVID-19 in order to continue moving Virginia’s infrastructure forward.

Vint Hill Educational Services

Vint Hill Educational Services offers mock tests for the ACT and SAT. These are taken in a group setting to simulate the testing environment. For the ACT and SAT, we will review the scores to see which test the student is scoring higher on. Since all colleges and universities accept both tests, it's beneficial to know if your child is scoring higher on the ACT or SAT.  Check out our ACT versus SAT comparison chart for test differences.
