 2025 Tryout & Season Information

As the Tigers gear up for another competitive fall, here’s everything a first‑time (or veteran) player and family needs to know. Save it, share it, and read it twice—showing up prepared is the first step toward making the team!

Paperwork Deadline: Friday Aug 1 by 5 PM.
 *No completed paperwork = no tryout!

✅ Eligibility Checklist (Do This Before Aug 1)

  1. Register on ArbiterSports / Student Central
     – Select Brentsville District HS Volleyball 2025‑26.

  2. Upload your VHSL Physical
     – Must be dated on or after May 1 2025.

  3. Complete PWCS Concussion Education (athlete + parent).

  4. Fill Out the Brentsville Volleyball Tryout Form (link below).
     – Required to appear on the check‑in roster.
  1. Review “Important Changes to Student Athletic Registration” attached to this email.

👟 What to Bring to Tryouts

  • Court shoes (clean, non‑marking)

  • Knee pads

  • Athletic shorts/spandex & T‑shirt/tank (school‑appropriate)

  • Refillable water bottle (32 oz + recommended)

  • Hair tie / headband

  • Positive, coachable attitude—big one!

🏐 Tryout Format & Team Structure

  • Who’s Trying Out?  JV & Varsity together; freshmen included.
    – A separate Freshman squad may be added if turnout supports it.

  • Roster Limits:
    – 12 players max per team.
     – Up to 1 practice player or team manager may be invited per squad.

  • Evaluation Areas:

    1. Athletic testing (jump height, speed, agility)

    2. Fundamental skills (serve, pass, set, hit, block, defend)

    3. Game IQ & court communication

    4. Effort, attitude, and “coachability”

  • Daily Flow:
    Day 1 — Skills Stations & Athletic Testing
    Day 2 — Position‑Specific Drills & Team Play
    Day 3 (if needed) — Scrimmage & Final Assessments

  • Cuts / Selections:
    Rosters announced in‑person immediately after the final session.

📅 In‑Season Practice Snapshot

  • Weekdays: Varsity 3:00 PM – 5:00PM JV/(Freshman if needed) 4:00 -6 : 00 PM   Tentative  (weight room & on‑court)
  • Occasional Saturday Clinics: 9 : 00 AM – 11 : 00 AM (as scheduled)

  • Match Schedule: released at the team parents meeting July 30th & posted on the BDHS athletics page.

👕 Dress Code & Gear

📬 Communication Expectations

  • Primary Platform: BAND app or similar (join code distributed after tryouts).

  • Back‑up: PWCS email—check daily.

  • Absences: Email Coach Easley ≥ 24 hrs in advance (illness/emergency exceptions).

🤝 Parent & Athlete Meeting

When:July 30th 6:00PM
 Topics: season calendar, player/parent contract, equipment pack, fundraising, volunteer sign‑ups, academic support.
